Marriage and Children

Kohli and actress Anushka Sharma met on the set of a commercial they had both signed on to act in. They began dating in 2013, and due to their popularity, the public coined the nickname "Virushka" for the couple. In an interview with Graham Bensinger, Kohli recalled how they first met during the promotional shoot for Clear shampoo. Their relationship attracted significant media and public attention.

On December 11, 2017, the couple got married in a ceremony held in Florence, Italy.

On January 11, 2021, they welcomed their first child, a daughter. On February 15, 2024, the couple welcomed their second child, a son.

Dietary Habits

In 2018, Kohli revealed that he decided to adopt a vegetarian diet in an effort to relieve symptoms of cervical spine issues caused by high levels of uric acid. The condition was affecting the movement of his fingers, thereby impacting his performance as a batsman. As part of his commitment to maintaining optimal health, he made a conscious effort to avoid eating meat.

He has since clarified that his dietary choices do not align with a strictly vegan lifestyle, as he continues to consume dairy products and eggs—foods that are commonly categorized as vegetarian in India. His dedication, hard work, and discipline have earned him a reputation as one of the fittest athletes in the world.

Tattoos and More

Kohli has admitted to believing in superstition and possesses various good luck charms and rituals that he believes help bring him success on the cricket field. One such tradition includes wearing a black wristband. Additionally, he prefers a specific pair of gloves, which he has consistently worn. Since 2012, Kohli has also been seen wearing a kara on his right arm—a traditional bracelet often worn for religious or spiritual reasons.

Beyond these superstitions, Kohli has established a personal tradition of consistently wearing white shoes on the cricket field.

Kohli has several tattoos, including depictions of the Hindu god Lord Shiva, the sacred syllable "Om," the names of his parents—Prem and Saroj—a tribal symbol, a monastery representing peace, a Samurai warrior, the Scorpio astrological sign, and his ODI and Test match jersey numbers.
