Kohli is the only cricketer who has been named the Player of the Tournament in the T20 World Cup twice — in 2014 and 2016. He holds the top position in One Day Internationals (ODIs) with 51 centuries, surpassing Sachin Tendulkar's record of 49 ODI centuries. He achieved this milestone on November 15, 2023, during the semifinal of the 2023 ODI World Cup. In the same tournament, he also became the first player to score over 700 runs in a single edition.
In international cricket, Kohli has scored 82 centuries, which is the second-highest after Sachin Tendulkar’s 100 centuries. In 2018, Kohli set a record by becoming the first player to score 1,000 ODI runs in just 11 innings within a calendar year. In 2022, he achieved another milestone by scoring 1,000 runs in T20 World Cups, becoming the second player to do so after Mahela Jayawardene. While playing against Bangladesh, he became the highest run-scorer in T20 World Cup history.
